Please note that the Vanderbilt tender does not come in kit form, nor is it sold separately.
All of these locomotives use one the side of the driving wheels, and the opposite side of the tender for electrical pick up. Locomotives that are ordered with decoders supplied by ourselves include the fitment of directional lighting.
Precision Miniatures can supply locos to negotiate curves tighter than our recommended minimum radii, if requested, but this requires removing part of the cylinder chest, and in extreme cases the shunters steps and replacing the front coupler with a non operational type.
Sound Decoders and Extras
Precision Miniatures only installs ESU Loksound™ decoders in our ready to run locomotives:
We install our own sound file with the correct SAR steam whistle, and in the case of the Garratts, the correct exhaust beat.
The following functions are pre-programmed into the decoders by Precision Miniatures prior to delivery:

- ESU Power Pack - Price R890.00 - Strongly recommended. This unit supplies enough power to the decoder for about 2 seconds if there is an interruption to the track power due to dirty track or poor trackwork.
We do not do decoder or lighting retrofits!
All locos come with a standard ‘as new’ paint finish, special paint finishes will be quoted on seperately.
